What does Lent mean to you? (Post your answer)

Lent is a 40-day season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that helps us prepare for the day of the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  It begins with Ash Wednesday and ends with Easter Sunday.

Why does the Church command us to fast and abstain?

The Church commands us to fast and to abstain in order that we may control the desires of the flesh, raise our minds more freely to God, and make satisfaction for sin.

Because of Jesus passion, for what he did for us,Rent means celebrating eternal life with our Lord, salvation, mercy, forgiveness,Grace of God for showing us how much he loves each and everyone of us. And the beauty of God creation, beginning in Genesis. I love the beauty of sunrise, sunsets, the bright stars in the sky,the fragrance of flowers, and the beauty of this earth in the beginning was and still is God’s expression of his love for us everywhere.

Lent is a time to draw closer to Jesus and love Him more deeply as I relive the sacrifice He made for me.
