St. Rita of Cascia, Agostinian

Born in 1381 in Roccaporena, Italy, Saint Rita experienced profound personal hardships. Married at a young age to a difficult husband, she endured years of domestic strife. After the tragic deaths of her husband and two sons, Rita embraced a life of prayer and service, joining the Augustinian convent in Cascia. There, she became known for her deep devotion, humility, and the miraculous wound on her forehead, reminiscent of Christ’s crown of thorns. She passed away in 1457 and was canonized by Pope Leo XIII in 1900

Saint Rita is invoked by those facing seemingly insurmountable challenges, offering hope and intercession in desperate situations.

A Short Prayer to Saint Rita

O glorious Saint Rita, you endured life’s sufferings with unwavering faith. Teach us to trust in God’s plan, even when the path is steep. Intercede for us in our trials, and help us to embrace His will with love and patience. Amen.
