Biography
Saint Fidelis of Sigmaringen was born in 1577 in Germany. He was first trained as a lawyer and was known for his honesty and defense of the poor. However, feeling called to a deeper life of service, he left his successful career and joined the Capuchin Franciscans, taking the name Fidelis, which means “faithful.”
As a priest, he became a powerful preacher, traveling through regions affected by division and conflict, especially during the time of the Reformation. With great zeal and charity, he worked to bring people back to the Catholic faith.
Despite knowing the dangers, he continued his mission with courage. Eventually, he was attacked and killed by those who opposed his preaching, becoming a martyr for the faith. His life is a witness to fidelity, courage, and unwavering trust in God.
