One Minute Catechism: What was the end of the leaders of persecution, schism, and heresy?

Question: What was the end of the leaders of persecution, schism, and heresy?

Answer:
Those who have rebelled against God and His Church have often met a tragic end, showing that no power can prevail against divine truth.

For example:

  • Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Our Lord for thirty pieces of silver, was filled with despair and took his own life (Matthew 27:5).
  • Nero, the cruel Roman emperor who persecuted the early Christians, died by his own hand after being abandoned by his followers.
  • Darius, who sought to suppress the faith of God’s people, saw his plans fail and witnessed the triumph of God’s servant, Daniel.
  • The Greek Schismatics, after breaking from the unity of the Catholic Church, eventually fell under the Turkish yoke in 1453, losing their freedom and influence.
  • Napoleon, who tried to dominate the Church, ended his days in lonely exile, stripped of his power.

These examples remind us that those who fight against God’s truth and His Church cannot find lasting peace, for Christ’s Kingdom endures forever.

“For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.” — Psalm 1:6
