4 Biblical Ways to Use Our Money for God’s Kingdom

In a culture that values material wealth, Christians are becoming increasingly wary of the topic of money. But not every bit of financial advice is an attack on money. In reality, scripture never says that money is evil – only that the love of it is. When we learn to place our hope in Jesus and not in the things of this world, we will enjoy our blessings all the more. So how can we use our money to build God’s Kingdom?

Giving to the Poor

“Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will repay him for his deed.” – Proverbs 19:17
All throughout the Bible, we are reminded of the importance of giving to the poor. And what we have to realize is that poverty takes on many different forms. Starving children in Africa need our resources, as do the orphans and widows in our own countries. As followers of Christ, we should never ignore brokenness anywhere in the world. Instead, in love and compassion, we should be unashamed to sacrifice our own wealth for those who are not so fortunate.

Giving to the Church

Tithing is a concept that originates in the Old Testament, but it is still an important habit to practice. Tithing goes beyond just giving 10% every Sunday morning; tithing is an act of worship. It teaches us to be generous toward God and His people, and trust that God will provide the rest. When we give to the Church, we are helping to support a global movement of truth and love – ultimately benefiting us, as well.

Supporting the Spread of the Gospel

We can often become so comfortable in our everyday Christian lives that we forget about those who are in need of salvation. There are still many unreached people groups in the world who haven’t heard the Good News of Jesus Christ. Thankfully, many missionaries are rising up and completely devoting themselves to this cause; but realistically, they need money to survive and operate. And that’s where we come in.

Supporting Our Families

Despite what some people may believe, not every cent we earn has to be given away. In fact, the easiest way to glorify God with our money is to simply support our families. Isn’t that its main purpose? There is responsibility that comes with raising a family, and to avoid that responsibility is to dishonor God. Whoever neglects their family to glorify God is actually doing the exact opposite.

Of course, these are not the only ways by which money can be used for God’s Kingdom. What truly matters is that we are good stewards of the blessings we’ve been given. That means avoiding greed, envy, and wastefulness; the book of Proverbs has much to say about all three. And it means putting everything in God’s hands; He has already given us so much. Now is our time to give back to Him what is already His.

Jesus Bless You Richly
Amen
