About Our Lady of Banneux

Our Lady of Banneux, also known as the Virgin of the Poor, is associated with the Marian apparitions reported in Banneux, Belgium, in 1933.

Between January 15 and March 2, 1933, the Virgin Mary reportedly appeared eight times to Mariette Beco, an 11-year-old girl. Mary identified herself as the Virgin of the Poor and called people to prayer and trust in God.

During the apparitions, Mary emphasized prayer and compassion for those who suffer. One of the best-known messages associated with Banneux is the invitation to pray much and to come to the spring, which became a place of pilgrimage and devotion.

The Shrine of Our Lady of Banneux subsequently became an important Marian pilgrimage site, particularly for people seeking spiritual comfort and praying for the sick and suffering.

Our Lady of Banneux is especially remembered as the Virgin of the Poor, calling Christians to draw closer to Jesus, the Source of grace, and to care for those who are suffering and in need.
