What is the Daniel Fast?

The Daniel fast is a 21 day spiritual fasting period. It involves praying to God for special petitions. These are petitions that we can’t achieve by prayer alone. The fast is inspired by the prophet Daniel. He humbled himself before God and cried for the sins of his people. This happened while they were in exile in Babylon.

What are the main Reasons for Fasting?

To be a co-redeemer of Christ

To humble ourself before God.

Seeking God guidance

Cry for mercy

Break down stronghold

Sacrifice

Penance

Obedience and Discernment 

Worship

Spending time with Jesus our God and Savior

What foods are not allowed in Daniel Fast?

Meat, Eggs, Dairy products, Coffee, Tea, soda, all types of wheat flour, Seafood, processed foods, all types of sweet Beverages, white rice, all types of Chocolate, sugar, Alcohol…

What foods are allowed on the Daniel Fast??

Vegetables, Fruits, Nuts, Seeds, Brown /Red Rice, Corn, Beans and Legumes, Herbal Tea without Caffeine, Water, Fresh Juice…

At that time I, Daniel, mourned for three weeks. I ate no choice food; no meat or wine touched my lips; and I used no lotions at all until the three weeks were over.
