Day 4 – Octave of Easter

“Even in the Ordinary, He is Risen”

“Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” Luke 24:13–35

Reflection:

Day 4.
Maybe the Easter lilies are starting to fade. Maybe the chocolate is gone. Maybe you’re already sliding back into the grind — emails, dishes, bills, distractions.

But here’s what hits me today:
Jesus didn’t just appear in the temple or in some cosmic blaze of glory.
He showed up on a quiet road. To two weary, confused disciples. While they were walking. And wondering.

He walked with them.
Talked with them.
Ate with them.

And they didn’t even realize it was Him until the breaking of the bread.

Isn’t that just like God?

We want fireworks.
But He comes in friendship. In daily bread. In the long walk home.

Maybe today you’re not feeling the Easter joy. That’s okay. The truth doesn’t depend on your feelings. Christ is still risen. And He’s walking right next to you — even if you don’t fully recognize Him yet.

Take the walk. Stay present. Trust that resurrection often comes quietly, but it changes everything.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus,
You met the disciples on the road when they didn’t recognize You — but You were with them the whole time.

I confess: sometimes I miss You too.
In my rush, in my fear, in my to-do lists.
But I believe You are walking with me.
Right now. Right here.

Let my heart burn within me again.
Help me to see You in the breaking of the bread,
In the voice of a friend,
In the silence of prayer.

You are risen — not just in the past,
But in this moment.
Let me live like that’s true.

Amen.
