(May 28, 2025)

Bishop, peacemaker, and friend of the poor

Brief Biography:

Saint Germain was born near Autun, France, and became a monk known for his holiness, humility, and love for the poor. Against his own wishes, he was made Bishop of Paris, where he worked tirelessly to bring peace to the divided city and to reform the clergy.

He was deeply committed to helping the sick and the needy, often giving away his own possessions. Despite facing opposition and challenges from political leaders, he remained gentle and faithful. His prayers and miracles were widely known, and he was considered a living saint even during his lifetime.

Saint Germain died in 576, and the famous Abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Prés in Paris was named in his honor.
