St. Ursula Ledóchowska (Maria Ursula of Jesus) was born in Austria into a deeply Catholic family and later moved to Poland. She became a nun in the Ursuline order and dedicated her life to education, especially of girls and young women. With courage and a missionary heart, she worked across Europe—even in places hostile to the Church—spreading faith and building schools, orphanages, and homes for the poor.
In 1920, she founded the Ursulines of the Agonizing Heart of Jesus, also known as the Grey Ursulines, a congregation devoted to Christ’s love and sacrifice. St. Ursula faced wars, exile, and opposition, yet remained joyful and tireless in her service to God and others.
She was canonized by Pope John Paul II in 2003.

St. Ursula Ledóchowska, you served Christ with courage, love, and deep trust in His mercy. Help me to follow your example of service, especially to those in need. Pray for us, that we may remain faithful in every trial and joyful in every sacrifice. Amen.
