Patron of: Philosophers, Apologists, Lecturers
Biography:
Saint Justin Martyr was born around the year 100 A.D. in Samaria, near the ancient city of Nablus. As a young man, he passionately sought truth, exploring different philosophies. Eventually, he encountered Christianity and was deeply moved by the courage and holiness of Christian martyrs. Convinced of the truth of Christ, Justin converted and dedicated his life to defending the faith through reason and dialogue. He became one of the first and greatest Christian apologists, explaining and defending Christian beliefs in a time of persecution. Around 165 A.D., he was arrested and refused to renounce his faith. He was beheaded in Rome, earning the crown of martyrdom.
Quote from Saint Justin:
“We have learned not to speak great things, but to live them.”
Prayer:
Saint Justin Martyr, help us to seek truth with open hearts and to boldly proclaim Christ with wisdom and love. May we never fear persecution, but remain faithful witnesses to the Gospel. Amen.
