Saint Marcellinus and Saint Peter

(June 2, 2025)

Feast Day: June 2
Patrons of: Those suffering from headaches and afflictions

Biography:

Saint Marcellinus was a priest, and Saint Peter was an exorcist in the early Church. Both lived during the fierce persecution of Christians under the Roman Emperor Diocletian in the early 4th century. These two holy men were arrested for their faith and imprisoned. Even behind bars, they continued to evangelize—converting their jailer and many others to Christ.

They were eventually condemned to death for their unwavering faith. According to tradition, they were taken secretly to a forest and beheaded to avoid a public display of martyrdom. Yet their witness lived on, and their names were honored in the early Roman Canon (Eucharistic Prayer I), showing how deeply the Church revered their courage.

Reflection:

Saints Marcellinus and Peter remind us that even in the darkest and most dangerous times, the light of Christ cannot be hidden. Their fearless love for Christ inspires us to be bold in our faith, especially when it’s inconvenient or risky.

Prayer:

Saints Marcellinus and Peter, pray for us to be fearless in our love for Christ. May we, like you, bring the Gospel to others even in the most difficult places. Amen.
