“Ambassador of Hope” (1549–1610)
Saint Francis Solano was a Spanish Franciscan friar sent on mission to South America in 1589. Born in Montilla, Spain, he was known for his compassion, powerful preaching, and tender heart for the poor and sick.
In Peru and Argentina, he devoted his life to learning indigenous languages and customs—bridging cultures with respect and love. Miracles followed; he calmed wild animals and compassionately cared for people during epidemics. Thousands were baptized, not only by his words, but by his gentle example.
Saint Francis Solano invites us to be ambassadors of hope, especially to those in despair—sharing the Gospel not by force, but by humble love and service.

Saint Francis Solano, loving apostle,
your kindness and trust in God brought Gospel hope to hearts and lands.
Teach us to speak with tenderness, serve with compassion,
and walk humbly with Christ among those who suffer.
May our lives reflect your gentle witness,
and may we bring hope wherever it is needed.
