Patron of: Spiritual renewal, monks, hermits
Short Biography:
Saint Romuald was born in Ravenna, Italy, around the year 956. Though raised in a noble family, he felt drawn to deeper conversion after witnessing a violent duel in his youth. Romuald entered the monastery of Sant’Apollinare in Classe, but his desire for a stricter, more contemplative life soon led him to become a hermit.
Guided by the Holy Spirit, he traveled across Italy for 30 years, founding hermitages and monasteries, the most famous being the Camaldolese Order, which combines the solitude of hermits with the community life of monks. Romuald burned with love for God and called others to silence, prayer, and penance. He died in 1027, having lived a life of radical holiness and spiritual awakening.
A Prayer to Saint Romuald:
O glorious Saint Romuald,
You left the riches of the world to seek the treasure of heaven.
Help us, too, to desire solitude with God,
to love silence, prayer, and penance.
Intercede for all who seek holiness in a noisy world.
May your example awaken in us a hunger for divine intimacy.
Saint Romuald, pray for us!
Amen.

Leave us your prayers…
