Saint of the Day: Saint Tarcisius

Feast Day: August 15

Saint Tarcisius was a young Christian martyr of the 3rd century, believed to have been an acolyte in Rome during the reign of Emperor Valerian. He was entrusted with carrying the Holy Eucharist to imprisoned Christians when he was attacked by a mob. Refusing to surrender the Blessed Sacrament, he was beaten to death, protecting the Body of Christ with his life. Tarcisius is honored as the patron saint of altar servers and First Communicants, a shining example of Eucharistic love and courage.
