One Minute Catechism: Is every one obliged to perform the works of mercy?

Question: Is everyone obliged to perform the works of mercy?

Answer: Yes, all are obliged according to their ability and state in life to perform the spiritual and corporal works of mercy. These works are acts of love by which we help our neighbor in their bodily and spiritual needs, following the example of Christ Himself.

“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.”
