Eighth Day of Christmas

Reflection (Meditation):

On the eighth day of Christmas, the Church honors the Holy Name of Jesus. According to Jewish custom, eight days after His birth, the Child was circumcised and given the name announced by the angelโ€”Jesus, which means โ€œGod saves.โ€

This sacred name is not just a title, but a promise. In the name of Jesus, hearts are healed, sins are forgiven, and hope is restored. The humility of Christ continues to amaze us: the eternal Son of God submits Himself to the law, fully embracing our humanity in order to redeem it.

As we reflect on the Holy Name of Jesus, we are invited to speak His name with love, reverence, and trust. In moments of joy or trial, the name of Jesus is our refuge, our strength, and our peace.

Eighth Day of Christmas Prayer

Lord Jesus Christ,
We praise and bless Your Holy Name,
the name above every name,
the name that brings salvation to the world.

On this eighth day of Christmas,
teach us to honor Your name in our words,
to trust in Your name in our struggles,
and to call upon Your name with faith and love.

May Your Holy Name be written in our hearts,
spoken with reverence on our lips,
and reflected in the way we live our lives.

Jesus, Savior of the world,
be our comfort, our hope, and our peace.
We place our lives and our families into Your loving care.

We ask this in Your Holy Name.
Amen.
