Day 26: 40 Days of Lent 2026

As we journey deeper into the holy fast, today’s readings and prayers often call us to examine our hearts with honesty. Like the Prophet Isaiah reminds us that God teaches us what is for our profit and leads us in the way we should go (Isaiah 48:17), we are invited to let go of self-reliance and trust fully in His guidance.

In this season of restraint, let us turn from idleness, judgment, and distraction—asking the Lord to root out what hinders our love for Him and neighbor. True repentance brings freedom: seeing our own faults clearly so we can extend mercy to others. As Holy Week draws nearer, may our fasting, prayer, and almsgiving prepare us to stand at the foot of the Cross with humble, contrite hearts.

Prayer for Day 26
O Lord and Master of my life,
take from me the spirit of sloth, despondency, lust for power, and idle talk.
Grant instead to me, Your unworthy servant,
the spirit of chastity, humility, patience, and love.
Help me to see my own sins and not to judge my brother,
for blessed are You unto the ages of ages.

Amen.

(This draws from the beloved Prayer of St. Ephraim the Syrian, recited daily in Great Lent)

I know all is done in God’s time. Please impress Gladys with God’s plan. May I be blessed with an extension to the contract, may Gladys be able to have the trust and patience till we sell Dads home.
