On May 13, the Catholic Church celebrates Our Lady of Fatima, honoring the first apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary to three shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal, in 1917. The children — Saint Francisco Marto, Saint Jacinta Marto, and Lúcia dos Santos — witnessed a series of apparitions in which Mary called the world to prayer, repentance, and peace.
Our Lady especially asked for the daily praying of the Rosary and devotion to her Immaculate Heart. Her message came during a time of war and suffering, reminding humanity to return to God and trust in His mercy.
