About God the Father
God the Father is the First Person of the Most Holy Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the Creator of heaven and earth, the source of all life, and the loving Father of all who believe in His Son, Jesus Christ.
Throughout Sacred Scripture, God reveals Himself as a Father who is rich in mercy, faithful to His promises, and always ready to welcome His children. Jesus taught His disciples to pray to God as “Our Father,” inviting every Christian into a personal relationship with Him.
The Father sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, into the world for our salvation and pours out the Holy Spirit to guide and sanctify His people. Every grace comes from the Father through the Son in the Holy Spirit.
This novena is an invitation to place complete trust in God’s loving providence and to seek His will above all things.
What is the Novena to God the Father?
The Novena to God the Father is a nine-day prayer that invites Catholics to deepen their relationship with their Heavenly Father by praising Him, thanking Him, and confidently presenting their needs according to His holy will.
Why should I pray to God the Father?
Jesus Himself taught us to pray to the Father in the Our Father. As adopted children of God through Baptism, we are invited to approach Him with confidence, knowing that He loves us and desires our eternal good.
What can I pray for in this novena?
You may pray for:
- Guidance
- Healing
- Peace
- Family intentions
- Financial needs
- Strength during suffering
- Spiritual growth
- Any personal intention according to God’s will
When can I pray the Novena to God the Father?
This novena may be prayed at any time of the year. It is especially appropriate before the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, during times of discernment, or whenever you desire to grow closer to your Heavenly Father.
Is it Catholic to pray directly to God the Father?
Yes. Catholics regularly pray directly to God the Father. In the Mass and many of the Church’s prayers, we address the Father through Jesus Christ in the Holy Spirit, following the example given by Christ Himself.
Why does the novena end by praying through Jesus Christ?
Catholic prayer is traditionally offered to the Father through Jesus Christ, because Jesus is our mediator and taught us that all grace comes from the Father through Him.
Can I pray this novena for someone else?
Yes. You may offer this novena for your family, friends, the sick, those who have left the faith, the souls in purgatory, or anyone in need of God’s mercy and grace.
How do I pray the Novena to God the Father?
Begin with the Sign of the Cross, pray the novena prayer, present your personal intention, and conclude with:
- Pray One: Our Father
- Pray One: Hail Mary
- Pray One: Glory Be

God, my Heavenly Father, I adore You and humbly acknowledge my nothingness before Your Divine Majesty. You alone are eternal Being, Life, Truth, and Goodness.
Though I am weak and unworthy, I honor You, praise You, thank You, and love You in union with Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, Savior, and Brother. Through the merciful love of His Sacred Heart and His infinite merits, I offer You my heart and my life.
Heavenly Father, I desire to serve You faithfully, to please You in all things, to obey Your holy will, and to love You with all my heart. United with Mary Immaculate, Mother of God and our Mother, I also desire to love and serve my neighbor for love of You.
