Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati (1901–1925)

Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati, known as the “Man of the Beatitudes,” was born in Turin, Italy, in 1901. Though raised in a wealthy family, he chose a life of simplicity, prayer, and service to the poor. He was a joyful outdoorsman who loved mountain climbing, friendship, and the Eucharist. His short life was filled with deep faith, courage, and charity, and he died at just 24 after contracting polio while serving the sick.

Today, Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati is honored as the patron saint of young people, students, mountaineers, Catholic youth movements, and all who work for social justice. His example continues to inspire countless Catholics to live out the Gospel with joy and courage. He was canonized by Pope Leo XIV on September 7, 2025, forever recognized by the Church as a model of holiness for our time.
