About St. Peter
St. Peter the Apostle was one of the twelve Apostles chosen by Jesus Christ and was given a special role among the Apostles. Originally named Simon, Jesus gave him the name Peter, meaning “rock,” and declared:
“You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church.” (Matthew 16:18)
