About St. Vincent de Paul

St. Vincent de Paul was born in France in 1581 and became a priest devoted to serving the poor, sick, and abandoned. Early in his ministry, he experienced a deep personal conversion that led him to dedicate his life to acts of mercy and practical charity.

He founded the Congregation of the Mission (Vincentians) to evangelize the rural poor and, with the help of St. Louise de Marillac, co-founded the Daughters of Charity to serve the most vulnerable. His love for Christ moved him to care for orphans, galley slaves, and the dying, always treating them with dignity.

Today, his legacy lives on through the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, which carries out works of charity around the world.
