About Our Lady of Pompeii
The devotion to Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary of Pompeii began in the late nineteenth century through the work of Blessed Bartolo Longo. After returning to the Catholic faith, Blessed Bartolo dedicated his life to spreading devotion to the Holy Rosary and promoting trust in the Blessed Virgin Mary.
In 1875, he brought a simple painting of the Virgin Mary holding the Child Jesus and the Rosary to the town of Pompeii, Italy. Through Mary’s intercession, many people reported receiving extraordinary graces, healings, and conversions.
