About St. Boniface
St. Boniface (c. 675–754), born Winfrid in England, was a Benedictine monk who became one of the most influential missionaries in Christian history. Sent by Pope Gregory II to evangelize the Germanic peoples, he preached the Gospel, established monasteries, founded dioceses, and reformed the Church throughout Germany.
One of the most famous events of his missionary work was the felling of the Oak of Thor, demonstrating that pagan idols had no power over the true God. Through his fearless preaching, many embraced the Catholic faith.
In his later years, while preaching in what is now the Netherlands, St. Boniface was martyred along with several companions while preparing newly converted Christians for Confirmation. He willingly gave his life for Christ, becoming a shining example of missionary zeal and fidelity.
