About St. Ursula
St. Ursula is one of the Church’s most beloved virgin martyrs. According to ancient Christian tradition, she was a noble young woman who dedicated her life entirely to Christ and vowed to remain a virgin. Rather than renounce her faith, she courageously accepted martyrdom, inspiring countless Christians by her fidelity and trust in God.
Over the centuries, devotion to St. Ursula spread throughout Europe, especially in Germany. She became a model of purity, courage, and unwavering faith. Her witness inspired the founding of the Order of Saint Ursula (Ursulines), dedicated to the Christian education of young women and girls.
Although many details of her life belong to ancient tradition, the Church continues to honor St. Ursula as a shining example of courage, holiness, and complete devotion to Jesus Christ.
Her feast day is celebrated on October 21.
