About St. Dominic Savio
aint Dominic Savio was born in 1842 in San Giovanni da Riva. From a very young age, he showed extraordinary devotion to God, deep love for prayer, and a strong desire to become holy. At the age of twelve, he became a student of Saint John Bosco at the Oratory in Turin.
Under the guidance of St. John Bosco, Dominic grew rapidly in virtue and spiritual maturity. He was known for his purity, humility, kindness, and deep love for the Holy Eucharist. One of his most famous resolutions was: “Death rather than sin.”
Although physically weak and often sick, Dominic remained joyful and focused on holiness. He encouraged other young people to pray, avoid sin, and stay close to Jesus and Mary. He died at only 14 years old in 1857.
Saint Dominic Savio was canonized in 1954 and is recognized as one of the youngest non-martyred saints in the Catholic Church. He is a powerful model of youthful holiness and purity.
