About St. John Francis Regis
St. John Francis Regis (1597–1640) was a French Jesuit priest and missionary celebrated for his tireless preaching and love for the poor. Born in Fontcouverte, France, he entered the Society of Jesus and dedicated his priesthood to evangelization, hearing confessions, and teaching the Catholic faith.
Traveling through towns and remote mountain villages, St. John Francis Regis preached parish missions that led many people to conversion. He spent countless hours hearing confessions, comforting the sick, caring for prisoners, and helping the poor.
