Who is St. John Vianney
St. John Vianney, also known as the Curé of Ars, was born in 1786 in France. Though he struggled academically in seminary, his deep love for God and perseverance led to his ordination as a priest. He was assigned to a small, spiritually indifferent village called Ars, where he devoted himself to prayer, penance, and the sacraments.
Through his holiness, Ars was transformed. People from all over France came to confess their sins to him, sometimes waiting up to 16 hours a day to receive absolution. His gentle manner, wisdom, and miraculous insights into souls earned him the title “a living sermon.”
He died in 1859 and was canonized in 1925. Today, he remains a model of priestly humility, zeal, and sacrificial love.
