About St. Rosalia
Rosalia, also known as Saint Rosalia of Palermo, was born into a noble family in Palermo around the 12th century. Although she lived surrounded by wealth and privilege, Rosalia chose a life dedicated entirely to God.
She rejected worldly comforts and withdrew to live as a hermit in a cave on Mount Pellegrino, spending her days in prayer, penance, and contemplation.
Saint Rosalia became widely known centuries later when her relics were discovered during a devastating plague in Palermo in 1624. According to tradition, after her relics were carried in procession through the city, the plague ended. Because of this miracle, she became known as a powerful intercessor against disease and suffering.
