God’s word for today
What is God saying today? We can know what God is saying by reading the Holy Bible. The Bible is God’s word for today – for our times and the issues in our world. God’s Word brings Light and Life to our souls when we read it (Psalm 119:130). You can read it online for free – it is available to all people.
Who wrote the Bible?
The Bible was written over many, many years by many different authors (Hebrews 1:1). The writers of the Bible were men who knew God personally and listened to His voice. They wrote about God and what He was saying to them. Some of the Bible is the history of God’s interaction with people, some of it is poetry about God and some of it is prophecy or teaching (God speaking to a specific person or nation). When you read the Bible, pay attention – you will hear God speaking to your heart.
Is the Bible true?
The Bible is true in what it presents itself to be – a collection of historical accounts, poems and prophecies or teachings from God to people on earth. The historical accounts are true. The poems are authentic and the prophecies were really spoken during the time they were recorded. Many of the prophecies have come true – some are going to happen soon. The teachings in the Bible are true for our day as well as when they were written. Truth does not change over time. The Bible is still true because it contains timeless truths we need today (Hebrews 4:12)
How to read the Bible
The Bible has two sections – the Old Testament and the New Testament. If you are new to the Bible, it is a good idea to start in the New Testament, in the book of John. This will tell you about Jesus Christ, God’s Son. Each time before you read, open your heart and ask God’s Holy Spirit to help you to understand what you are reading. The Bible is a spiritual book – you need the Holy Spirit to help you to understand it and do what it says.
Why Should I Read the Bible?
