Saint Bridget of Sweden Novena

What is St. Bridget of Sweden known for?

St. Bridget of Sweden (1303–1373) was a mystic, wife, mother, and founder of the Bridgettine Order. Born into Swedish nobility, she was married and had eight children, including St. Catherine of Sweden. After her husband’s death, Bridget dedicated her life to prayer, penance, and service to the Church.

She received many visions and revelations from Christ, which she recorded and shared, becoming a spiritual guide for many. St. Bridget traveled to Rome, where she advocated for Church reform and peace. Her deep devotion to the Passion of Christ inspired the well-known 15 Prayers of St. Bridget.

She was canonized in 1391 and is one of the patron saints of Europe.
