He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. -Titus 3:5-7
The more we recognize God’s mercy in our own lives, the more we can extend that mercy to others. During this season, we are called not only to reflect on our own need for forgiveness but to actively offer it to others. Forgiveness brings peace—not just for the one forgiven but for the one offering forgiveness as well.
Consider how God has been merciful to you. Can you offer that same mercy to others, especially those who may not deserve it in the eyes of the world? True mercy is an act of love that mirrors Christ’s love for us—a love that is unconditional and all-encompassing.
If you suffer with Him, you will reign with Him. If you cry with Him, you will have joy with Him. If you die with Him on the Cross of tribulation, you will possess the eternal dwelling place in the splendor of the saints. And your name, written in the Book of Life, will be glorious among men. -St. Clare of Assisi
Prayer:
Lord,
You have shown me mercy and love beyond measure.
Help me to mirror Your mercy in my own life.
Grant me the strength to forgive others,
even when it is difficult or painful.
Let me always remember Your great mercy
and extend that same love to those around me.
Transform my heart during this Lenten journey,
so that I may walk in Your ways of compassion and peace.
Through Christ our Lord.
