Good Friday is the solemn day when Catholics remember the Passion and death of Jesus Christ on the cross. It falls on the Friday before Easter Sunday and is the second day of the Easter Triduum.
It’s called “Good” because, through Jesus’ suffering and death, He won salvation for the world. On this day, we don’t celebrate Mass. Instead, we gather for a special liturgy with the reading of the Passion, veneration of the cross, and Holy Communion.
It’s a day of fasting, prayer, silence, and deep reflection. We look at the cross—not to feel guilt—but to feel the depth of God’s love, poured out fully for us.
