(June 26, 2025)
Feast Day: June 26
Founder of: Opus Dei
Patron of: Ordinary life, laypeople, and workers
Biography:
Saint Josemaría Escrivá was born in Spain in 1902 and was ordained a priest in 1925. In 1928, he founded Opus Dei, an apostolic movement within the Catholic Church that teaches that everyone is called to holiness—not just priests or religious, but laypeople too—by sanctifying their ordinary work and daily life.
His message was simple and revolutionary: God can be found in the everyday—through family, work, and small acts done with great love. His writings, especially The Way, have inspired millions to live their faith more deeply in the world.
Pope John Paul II canonized him in 2002, calling him the “saint of ordinary life.”
Prayer:
Saint Josemaría, help us see God in our daily tasks, and teach us to serve Him with joy and excellence in everything we do. Amen.
