St. Cajetan Novena Prayer

What is St. Cajetan known for?

Feast Day: August 7
Patron of: Job seekers, the unemployed, gamblers, bankers

About St. Cajetan
St. Cajetan (1480–1547) was born into a noble family in Vicenza, Italy. After earning doctorates in civil and canon law at the University of Padua, he was ordained a priest in 1506. Troubled by the widespread poverty and corruption of his time, he co‑founded the Congregation of Clerks Regular, commonly called the Theatines, in 1524.

Through the Theatines, Cajetan championed clerical reform, preached with zeal, and organized charitable relief for Rome’s poor and unemployed. He famously devised a system to match jobless workers with employers, trusting wholly in Divine Providence. Known for his austerity, deep prayer life, and unwavering faith in God’s care, he inspired renewal in both the clergy and laity. Canonized in 1671, St. Cajetan remains the Church’s patron for all seeking work and financial stability.

Glorious Saint Cajetan, acclaimed by all people to be the father of providence because you provide miraculous aid to all who come to you in need, I stand here before you today humbly asking that you present to the Lord the requests that I confidently deposit in your hands.

May these graces that I now request help me to always seek the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness, knowing that God Who dresses with beauty the flowers of the field and abundantly feeds the birds of the sky will grant me all other things. Amen.

    Hi all,

    I’m writing of a successful answer to prayer. My husband and I stumbled upon St. Catejan 10 years ago and our prayers were answered more abundantly than we could have expected. We were very desperate after several layoffs and just purchasing a new house with 2 babies. We prayed this novena every day- we may have done it more than once. My husband got an amazing opportunity and was at the right place and the right time. Hang in there and trust the lord will take care of you!!!💕

      I’m happy that things worked out for you. I needed to hear this. I do believe if two people pray together their prayers will be answered. Obviously that worked for you and your husband. I have no one to physically pray with but I do believe that if we pray for each other even if we are not in the same place, then our prayers will be answered. I pray for people on this board.

    Does anyone have any good news to share about St. Cajetan answering their prayer? I’ve been struggling for months and would love to hear something uplifting to keep my faith strong. Bless you all and I pray your prayers are answered in a positive way.

      Yes . Just keep on Praying . Dont lose hope for Glorious St Cajetan is true I’ve been jobless for almost a year now. And tomorrow is my schedule for mg pre-employment medical examination. I heard about Glorious St Cajetan for only 2weeks ago . And this is what he gave me . Amen

    St Cajetan, Today is my first time hearing of you, and knowing that you are the patron Saint of the jobless and unemployed. I’m writing to you with a teary eyes and trembling hands. I’m a young graduate with good skills but I’m currently unemployed for over a year now. I go on my knees everyday asking God to help me. Family and friends, I feel have deserted me. And now God is silent. I really don’t have anyone to turn to, I can’t feed myself, I can’t pay off my debts 😭😭. The thoughts of suicide keeps lingering in my mind. Please, St Cajetan help me!!! Intercede for me, I can’t take this anymore. 💔💔. O God please have mercy on me. I don’t know who to turn to for help. Help me O God! 🙏🙏

      Have you found employment yet? Suicide is not the answer. It solves nothing and leaves emptiness and pain for those left behind. I pray you’re currently in a better place

    I continue to pray each day both for myself and others who are working at finding a job. In Gods hands and His time, we will all be fully employed again. I also ask for this job to be pleasing to Him and His will. Please pray for me as I will pray for you.

    Ive been out of work for sometime nw was never given a reason for my firing…..been trying to get a job God knws ive tried i feel nw im lost and at my end been praying im even thinking im not using the ryte format to do it…i need you to inercede for me …

    Dear St. Cajetan,

    I’m hurting.

    I’ve been out of work for 15 months. I’m broke, desperate and alone. I wish that God would call me home because I can’t do this anymore. I have prayed another novena dedicated to you many, many times over the past year, but nothing has happened. I’m starting this novena now with the hope that you can help me.

    Please I need help. I’d like a job that fulfills me, satisfies me, doesn’t fill me with dread or or anxiety, is a service to others, helps others, and is a service to God Please let it come to me easily, or if I need to do something make the signs as big a s billboard. Please ask God to forgive my sins and my mistakes. And let his will be done through me.

    If this novena doesn’t work, I’m not sure my faith will survive.

      Dear Chris, I feel you brother. I had just finished today my Novena to St. Cajetan, along with other Novenas to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Lady of Good Success, and St. Joseph for employment. I have been out of job for 3 mo now that i need finance to support my 89 yr old mother. I am married and my husband is the only one supporting our day to day life but cant burden him supporting my mom. I surrender everything to the Lord for all this goal and i known in my heart nothing is impossible, all these needs will be given. My second day of Novena i received a second notification from job prospect i applied saying im illegible for the job and referred to hiring manager for interview soon! These among my many answered prayers -past and present. Novena prayers are powerful, dont be discouraged. Please include me here to be praying with you as we pray with the saints to present our needs to the Lord thru these Novenas.

        Thank you for your encouraging words. I went to the comments section today looking for any kind of sign, and there was your reply. Yes I’m discouraged and getting desperate. I pray all the time and nothing happens. I’m trying not to lose hope. I will pray for you and your situation. Like you I took care of my aging mother before she passed away two years ago. It was hard work but the most rewarding period of my life. I pray life gets easier for you as soon as possible. I hope you quickly find a job that fulfills all of your needs. Bless you. I pray God hears and answers your prayers.

        I pray that St. Cajetan will intercede for all our prayers to give us employment we deserve & uplift our financial situation. God has promised that if two or more people are praying the same thing amongst them, their prayers have been answered already. God sees us & our sufferings, He will give us His mercy & providence. It’s all been done, in Jesus name. Amen

        Unfortunately I haven’t. But I pray every day. And I pray for others on this board that they too may find employment, or peace of mind, or whatever it is they seek.

    I humbly place my petition that my daughter Alison gets a job soon in your hands. She has been struggling almost one year in her search and has interviewed many times. She is talented and a very hard worker. Please bless her and ask Our Lord to grant this favor and grace.
