Who is St. Joan of Arc?
St. Joan of Arc was born in 1412 in Domrémy, France. A simple peasant girl, she began receiving heavenly visions as a teenager—most notably from St. Michael the Archangel, St. Catherine, and St. Margaret—who told her to help save France during the Hundred Years’ War.
With faith and courage beyond her years, Joan led the French army to several key victories and helped crown Charles VII as king. Though later captured and unjustly condemned for her faith, she remained steadfast in her mission and devotion to God. She was burned at the stake in 1431 at the age of 19.
Joan was canonized in 1920 and is remembered as a heroine of faith, purity, and unwavering obedience to God’s call.
