About St. Zita
St. Zita was born around 1212 in the village of Monsagrati near Lucca, Italy. At the age of twelve, she entered the household of the Fatinelli family as a domestic servant, where she remained for the rest of her life.
Although she endured harsh treatment during her early years of service, St. Zita responded with humility, patience, and charity. She faithfully fulfilled every duty entrusted to her while dedicating herself to prayer and helping the poor. Many miracles were attributed to her during her lifetime, including the famous story in which angels were said to have baked bread while she attended Mass after giving food to those in need.
St. Zita died on April 27, 1272, and was canonized by Pope Innocent XII in 1696. She is honored throughout the world as the patron saint of homemakers, domestic workers, housekeepers, and all who strive to serve God faithfully through their daily work.
