Greater love has no one than this: to lay down oneโs life for oneโs friends.”
-John 15:13
Love sounds easy when it’s just a word. But real loveโthe kind Jesus livedโis costly. Itโs not just affection or good intentions. Itโs sacrifice.
As Lent moves toward Holy Week, weโre being invited to walk that road with Him. Itโs not comfortable. But itโs real.
It looks like forgiving someone who wonโt say sorry.
It sounds like choosing silence over gossip.
It feels like giving when no oneโs watching.
Jesus didnโt love us with words alone. He loved with wounds.
And hereโs the hard truth: if we want to follow Him, we can’t love cheaply either. We canโt pick up His cross halfway. Itโs all or nothing.
So today, donโt be afraid to love like Jesus. It may cost you your comfortโbut it brings a peace the world canโt give.
Fasting of the body is food for the soul.โย -St. John Chrysostom
Prayer:
Lord Jesus,
You gave everything for meโYour time, Your tears, even Your life.
Teach me how to love like that.
Not just when itโs easy, but when it hurts.
Not just with my words, but with my life.
Help me love the people I find hard to love.
Give me courage to forgive, to give, to stay faithful.
Let this Lent burn away my selfishness and make room for Your love to live in me.
Jesus, make my love look more like Yours.
Amen.
Make this Lent the best of your lifeย (Prayer, Fasting, Repent, Almsgiving).
In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. -Matthew 5:16
